Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Pisa in collaboration with Cinema Arsenale is happy to announce one of the event of the Welcome Days. It's something very special for the Italian Tradition…. We are talking about the Italian Cinematic Tradition. We thought that the best way to start your approach with the Italian reality is the screening of a great film of Italian history: "Ladri di Biciclette". Storyline Roma, Antonio Ricci is an unemployed worker who has had to support a family for two years. He finds a job as municipal striker but must have a bicycle. His is at the Mount of Pietà, he manages to redeem it thanks to the intervention of his wife Maria who commits the sheets. So the man starts working. But on the first day the bicycle is stolen, the man pursues the thief but to no avail. He goes to report the theft but nobody cares about what he is living except for his friend, a garbage man and his little son Bruno who works as a valet at a gas station and who accompanies him in the searches. Twice they come across the thief and try to chase him but in vain. Even the police say that they can’t do anything without evidence. Antonio, driven by despair, tries to steal a bike left unattended outside the stadium, but is taken by the owner, beaten in front of his son and risks being reported. Only the tears of the child will save him. Father and son walk home crying and it will be Bruno who tries to encourage the father by taking his hand.
